Course Description

Junior English III Assignments:
 
Week 4 -  Shakespeare Hamlet ,Act Three "To Be or Not to Be?" Essay
 
                Directions: Students are to type a 2 paged critical analysis essay on Hamlet's famous lines of the play as he wrestles with the contemplation of suicide. Suicide is one of the play's major themes  addressed in the play, The Tragedy of Hamlet ." Their perspective or point of view will be analyzed through the lens of existentialism. 
  
Week 5-  Character Foil Project- Two character Foils explained; A pair from two Shakespearean plays Hamlet and another play. Students may use a  Power Point Slideshow presentation (of at least 5 to 10 slides) their project instead of poster board. Use pictures for the pairs of characters as visuals.
 
Week 6-  Poetry Analysis- Comparison/ Contrast Essay
               
 
Directions: Students will make annotation notes using poetic strategy TPCASST to analyze both poems, Robert Frost " The Road Not Taken" and William Shakespeare's "Seven Ages of Man". Next, they will write a comparison/ contrast essay of what the two poems have in common themes.
 
Attention parents and students:
 
This week students will receive their Weekly Assessment Packet. Packets need to be turned in Thursday April 23rd during breakfast/lunch distribution, on designated bus routes, or via email directly to the teacher. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your teacher.
 
If you do not have access to print, Week 5 packets will be available for pick up Monday- Friday during breakfast/lunch distribution at the Elementary campus between 10am-12pm. Packets will also be available on the daily bus routes.
 
You will also be able to turn in all previous completed packets during this time. Make sure your name is on every packet.
